Members also discussed the 'Start College Now' program and whether the district should clarify a maximum credits policy. Staff noted the state minimum of 18 credits and that the policy text references a completed 18 postsecondary credits threshold; board members said the district had previously treated 18 as the maximum covered.
On athletic credit in lieu of PE, staff presented a draft approach that would allow participation to count toward credit with required sign-offs from coaches, athletic director and principal and provisions for handling injuries. The board agreed to continue that item at the July meeting to refine language and handbook integration.
The board approved the revised motion on the curriculum edits and will revisit outstanding questions about paragraph 'q' and credit limits at a future meeting.
