Fourth-grade students presented log-cabin projects at the Raymond #14 School District board meeting on Jan. 20 as part of a social-studies unit on Wisconsin pioneers.
Mr. Leach introduced the presentation and teacher/presenter (speaker 4) described the unit’s focus on Wisconsin history and pioneer life before inviting students to speak. Student Trader Fayo said he used hickory bark for siding and cedar bark for the roof and listed acorns, walnuts and pine cones among the decorative materials. Monroe Arnett and Lincoln Burn also described their materials and construction choices, and the teacher praised the collaborative, family-supported projects as examples of project-based learning.
Board members and attendees applauded the students. The brief presentation preceded the meeting’s public-comment and business items.
The district noted today’s professional-development activities for staff and upcoming events including PTO movie night and a community fundraiser.
