Dr. Cook introduced the team and praised their performance, saying the group had represented Brooke County and the Northern Panhandle “spectacular.” Michelle Sharrock, introduced as the head coach, told the board she was “incredibly proud of these hardworking girls” and thanked the community for its support.
Assistant coaches and staff members — including Christine Elson and another assistant identified as Haley Bowman (not present) — were introduced. Several student-athletes named on the record (including Candace Devore, Kayla Elson and Maddie Rucheck) were invited to speak; some declined while one student said she had competed at regionals and state with a broken ankle.
Board members applauded the team, asked for photos to be taken for the newspaper and thanked coaches, families and staff for their work. The recognition was delivered early in the agenda as part of the meeting’s highlights presentation.
