Mid America Veterans Museum says it received land gift, will choose feasibility‑study firm by month’s end

The OCVB Commission heard an update Jan. 22 from Donna D'Angelo, executive director of the Mid America Veterans Museum, who said the museum has been gifted a plot of land and is moving forward with proposals for feasibility studies to determine the community's preferences for a new facility.
D'Angelo told commissioners the museum will choose a firm for the feasibility study by the end of the month. "We will have an answer by the end of this month as to who we're gonna go with for that feasibility study to find out what the community wants," she said. She added that the study may confirm the museum's current plans or point to a different approach.
D'Angelo said the museum operates with one paid staff member and about 44 volunteers, 25 of whom are active. She described the museum's fundraising plan, noting a major fundraising event — a music‑bingo night scheduled for May 16 at the O'Fallon Elks Lodge — and asked the commission to consider promotional support and sponsorships. "It's going to be May I believe it's the sixteenth. It will be held at the O'Fallon Elks Lodge," she said.
Commissioners asked whether the museum had any immediate requests of the commission; D'Angelo said this was her first meeting to learn how the commission operates and that she would follow up with specific asks after reviewing the commission's work.
The Chair said the museum would be invited to provide further updates at the next meeting.
