O'Fallon awards Project HOME grants to two nonprofits for home‑repair and accessibility work

City staff member Alexis Yeagers introduced the awards and said council previously authorized Project HOME allocations to support nonprofit home‑repair work for O'Fallon residents. Lisa Licamelli of the Delta Center for Independent Living said the earlier grant funded an updated bathroom, two home ramps and a stair lift, and that the new funds will similarly help seniors and people with disabilities remain safely in their homes.
Tom Hutchison of Restore Saint Charles described a program called Safe Egress Plus. Hutchison said the $15,000 grant will target front and rear entry decks and doors, mobile‑home flooring replacement, wheelchair ramp construction and yard/skirting cleanup tied to code enforcement. He estimated the award could support roughly 12–15 small projects; the funds will cover materials, disposal fees and equipment rental but not paid labor, which Restore Saint Charles said is provided by volunteers.
The two grantees will submit monthly reports documenting work completed, expenses and remaining funds, city staff said. Council thanked the organizations and encouraged the community to refer residents in need.
The presentation came during the council's workshop portion of the Feb. 13 meeting; there was no vote tied to the presentations themselves.
