Officials report progress on county radio tower builds and PSAP/GIS grant payouts

Staff said most tower sites are moving forward and that city utilities is temporarily storing generators. The committee was asked to review a fuller financial report at the Finance Committee meeting later the same day, where contingency and project finances will be discussed.
IT staff reported a $224,000 deposit from the 2023 PSAP grant and said the county’s 2024 GIS grant has begun spending; both the 2025 PSAP and GIS grants were approved and projects are planned to start in the next cycle. Staff also noted outstanding contract signatures from a major carrier (UScellular) are held in legal review and are delaying completion of some tower sites.
No formal committee vote on the radio project occurred in this meeting; staff invited committee members to join a Finance meeting for a full fiscal update.
