Village reports new zoning administrator, Pool Lane work and temporary recycling changes

The village's safety and service director reported several operational updates on Aug. 14. He introduced AJ Schwier as the new zoning administrator, who will focus on a backlog of property-maintenance issues and coordinate with the contract building inspector as staff develop policies and procedures.
The director said Pool Lane is under construction to address hillside drainage that had been affecting the pool parking area; engineers conducted hydraulic analysis and the current project is designed to stop runoff from reaching the pool lot. He also said the administration is relocating building inspection and code-enforcement staff to a more accessible space in the municipal building to improve public service.
Separately, the village is upgrading computers to support Windows 11; the director said the upgrades should be complete by the end of the year or early January. Service Director Gus Stutchell reported that the municipal parking lot on Vine Street will be closed temporarily while it is resealed and recoated. He also said the primary recycling truck is out of service and recycling will be collected with regular garbage until the truck returns, with a drop-off option at 5230 Vine Street during business hours.
