Saint Bernard council approves appropriations, Langley Avenue contract and one-year firefighters’ contract

Ordinance 10: the mayor earlier identified three line items tied to the ordinance: an Ohio EMS grant of $3,264.88 to be placed in the ambulance supply line item; $70,000 for contract staff; and approximately $134,000 for engineering on the Greenlee Improvement project. Council moved to suspend readings and adopted the ordinance by a 6–0 roll-call vote.
Ordinance 11: the ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Safety and Service to enter into a contract with Alida Inc. for the Langley Avenue reconstruction project. After the clerk read the ordinance and no members of the public addressed council, the members suspended further readings and adopted the ordinance by roll-call vote.
Ordinance 12: Council adopted a one-year employment agreement with Local 450 Saint Bernard Firefighters (IAFF). Mayor Stutchell had explained the administration’s approach of offering a one-year contract given expected revenue constraints, proposed a 4% compensation increase, and described an increase in the paramedic stipend from $3,500 to $5,000. Council moved to suspend readings and adopted Ordinance 12 by a unanimous roll-call vote.
Each ordinance was adopted as read with no recorded nays. The clerk will carry out the ministerial steps required for implementation: certifying appropriations, executing the Langley Avenue contract through the director of public safety and service, and filing the firefighters’ agreement per municipal process. Where the transcript contained variant spellings of some council members’ names, roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the clerk’s minutes as six ayes and no nays for each ordinance.
