St. Bernard wins $660,000 Metro Transit grant for Lower Washington and Tower Avenue improvements

Mayor Jonathan Stutchell (S11) announced that the Village of St. Bernard received an award from Metro Transit Infrastructure Funds (round 5) covering 50% of the project cost to improve Lower Washington Avenue and Tower Avenue.
“We're receiving 50% of the project cost for the improvements to Lower Washington Avenue and Tower Avenue,” Stutchell said, adding that the total project cost is $1,320,000 and the Metro Transit award will cover $660,000 of that amount. The project is planned to extend from the intersection of McClelland to Mitchell.
Stutchell said he was proud of the team’s work to procure funds for infrastructure and encouraged the community to participate in upcoming events, including a recreation department concert and the Garden Club’s pumpkin sale. He also asked the council to keep Councilman Ray Culberson and his family in their prayers.
