Saint Bernard council approves minutes, places ordinances 25 and 26 on table and moves to executive session

The Saint Bernard Committee of the Whole approved the written minutes of the Sept. 18 council meeting and moved to place two ordinances on the table for consideration at the next council meeting, the body said.

A motion to approve the Sept. 18 minutes was made by Mister Culbertson and seconded by Mister Estep, and the body voted in favor. Auditor Peggy Brickwood asked the council to place Ordinance 25 on the table; she said the ordinance would create a new line item, "23-01 opioid settlement expenses," to appropriate $29,578.83 from opioid settlement receipts for police and fire use and outlined several proposed fund transfers and additional appropriations across utility, bond, master plan and employee health accounts. Mister Morton moved to place Ordinance 25 on the table; Mister Culbertson seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote.

Law director Miss Van Valkenburg asked the council to place Ordinance 26 on the table; she said the draft (to be circulated to the laws, contracts and claims committee) would revise section 182 of the tax code related to registration of people and businesses. Mister Morton moved to place Ordinance 26 on the table; Miss Hausfeld seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote.

Miss Hausfeld then moved, seconded by Mister Morton, that the body go into executive session at the end of the meeting to discuss pending litigation. The clerk called the roll for that motion; all members recorded "aye," and the council recessed into executive session.

The council did not take final votes on either ordinance at the meeting; both were placed on the table for the next council meeting for formal consideration.
