Clarkdale extends Town Manager Susan Guthrie’s contract for two years and approves $10,000 signing bonus

The Clarkdale Town Council unanimously approved a two-year renewal of Town Manager Susan Guthrie’s employment agreement on Wednesday and authorized town officials to execute the contract, which the council-record shows includes a $10,000 signing bonus.

Council considered a consolidated letter of findings from the council’s Oct. 28 annual performance evaluation. Staff recommended approval of the letter, and the mayor read the council assessment, saying Guthrie “exceeds expectations in every area” and praising her professionalism, clear communication and leadership.

The letter of findings was approved in open session after being presented to Guthrie in executive session. Council Member Babbitt Pierce moved to approve the renewal agreement and Council Member O'Neil seconded; the motion carried without opposition.

Guthrie, the town manager, thanked the council and credited staff and the organization for town successes. She emphasized teamwork and strategic planning, saying the organization’s achievements reflect the work done by many employees.

The agreement as discussed in the meeting is for a two-year term and includes the $10,000 signing bonus noted in the agenda packet. Council did not discuss additional compensation details in the public record beyond the signing bonus and contract term.

The motion authorized the mayor and other town officials to execute the employment agreement; council members said they look forward to continuing work under Guthrie’s leadership.
