The Clerk of Courts presented a clerk-drafted resolution urging state lawmakers and the governor to support county court funding and operations, and asked the committee to forward it to the county board. "I drafted the resolution together with the information that we have put together as a legislative body of our association," the Clerk said, and added the Wisconsin County Association reviewed the text for accuracy.
The Clerk described a planned legislative day in Madison, scheduled meetings with state lawmakers and association speakers to deliver consistent talking points, and said clerks will meet with senators and representatives to press the resolution’s priorities. Committee members discussed the drafting and review process and confirmed the document was intended to be broadly applicable to counties.
Chair (S1) called for a motion to send the resolution to the county board. Committee member Chad moved to forward the resolution and Julie seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The committee requested the Clerk ensure the resolution reaches the proper county‑board channels; the Clerk said she would follow up. The forwarding of the resolution is procedural: final consideration and any formal county‑board action will occur at the county board meeting.
