Board ups notice distances for special and conditional use permits to 300 feet

The amendments make notice distances uniform at 300 feet for special and conditional use permits.
Planning staff told the board the change is intended to align practice and code so that affected property owners receive consistent notice. The ordinance amending code section 34-2024 (special use permits) and the ordinance amending section K-286 (conditional use permits) were each read in abbreviated form three times and adopted on roll-call votes.
Why it matters: Expanding the notification radius increases the number of property owners who will receive formal notice of applications, which city staff said will improve public awareness of land-use requests and support broader public input. The change codifies existing courtesy practice for conditional use permits and extends the same statutory notice to special use permit processes.
Both amendments were adopted without further amendment at the meeting.
