FSA says ECAP open with $7 billion distributed so far; dashboard and producer tools available

Tim Gravlin, data analytics lead for the Farm Service Agency, highlighted several FSA programs and tools in the USDA spring data users meeting.
What FSA announced: Gravlin said the emergency commodity assistance program (ECAP), authorized by Congress, is currently accepting applications through Aug. 15 and has produced a public dashboard. "We've taken around 500,000 applications for this ECAP program so far, and the program has paid out more than $7,000,000,000 to date," he said.
Tools: Gravlin said the agency posted a producer tool (a calculator) and a public dashboard in the meeting chat for producers to estimate potential assistance. He directed interested users to the dashboard and said links would remain available on the FSA site.
Other FSA work: Gravlin also reminded users about final crop acreage reporting data (posted Jan. 2), the crop acreage reporting deadline (July 15 for most commodities), and the Marketing Assistance for Specialty Crops program, which has received more than 50,000 applications.
Follow-up: Gravlin said he will provide written answers on outstanding CRP monthly summary questions and will follow up on a request for a natural-disaster-recovery dashboard covering the $21,000,000,000 referenced in the Q&A.
Next steps: Producers seeking ECAP help were advised to use the posted tools and contact FSA for program-specific guidance; Gravlin said FSA would publicize sign-up and outreach when programs with livestock-specific payments are announced.
