Board asks for joint meeting with city on secondary schools as ad hoc committee readies recommendations

The board’s Legislative Advocacy Committee reported that it will ask Dr. Worley to send a letter to the city administrator and mayor requesting a joint public meeting to discuss the recommendations expected from the ad hoc secondary schools committee.
Committee members said that secondary committee recommendations could lead to a referendum and would have ripple effects across the city; given that Wauwatosa’s school district and municipal boundaries are coterminous, the committee recommended an early, public coordination meeting so both bodies can plan together. Board members supported the request and said the meeting would be an opportunity to align on impacts such as shared facilities and tax implications.
No formal resolution was adopted; the committee asked administration to send the letter and to coordinate scheduling for Feb.–March once the ad hoc committee’s recommendations are available.
