Council clears Ordinance 26-2025 to proceed; special Nov. 13 meeting set for second reading

Director of law Van Volkenberg told council that Ordinance 26-2025 proposes changes to the village tax code to make it easier for the tax administrator to manage registration and collections. “You have before you ordinance number 26, 2025…amending sections 182.21 and 182.99 of the Saint Bernard codified ordinances regarding registration with the Saint Bernard tax administrator's office,” she said.
Council member Schultmeyer moved to allow Ordinance 26-2025 to take its regular course; the motion was seconded and passed by a unanimous roll-call vote. The council did not adopt the ordinance at this meeting; the ordinance will proceed for subsequent readings per the village’s standard process.
Mayor Stutchell requested a special council meeting on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., immediately before the Committee of the Whole, so a second reading of Ordinance 26 can be completed before the new council is seated. Council also agreed to move the regular November council meeting to Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
Because the ordinance was read and placed on the regular course without adoption, the council’s action at this meeting was procedural; additional debate or public comment may occur at subsequent readings.
