Auditor Miss Burkhoy told the Committee of the Whole on Dec. 11 that she is preparing the usual end‑of‑year ordinance to adjust line items so accounts balance through year end. She told the committee she would request an additional $5,000 for Medicare and an additional $10,000 for fire employees to ensure payroll and benefits obligations are met. She said most other changes will be decreases and that she will circulate the finalized ordinance before next week's council meeting.
Mister Morton moved and Mister Culberson seconded to place the increase/decrease ordinance on the table for next week's council meeting; the motion passed by voice vote. Separately, the committee also moved an ordinance to place the 2026 village budget on the table for next week after the finance committee chair reported that the finance committee had answered questions and recommended passage.
Treasurer Mister Ehrinkamp reported the Star Ohio account balance was $10,057,867.47 as of Nov. 28, 2025. Tax administrator Miss Helens reported November tax collections of $683,019 and refunds of $100,280, and she reminded residents to file 2024 Saint Bernard tax returns before year‑end.
The finance committee chair, Mister Morton, encouraged council to approve the budget at next week's council meeting. No final votes on the 2026 budget or the end‑of‑year ordinance were taken at the committee meeting; both items were placed on the table for the council meeting scheduled for Dec. 18, 2025.
