Staff recommended a package of advance pavement markings and larger signs to alert drivers to the railroad‑adjacent crosswalk west of Atherton Drive. The committee favored a low‑cost package — painting shark‑teeth triangles as an advance warning, installing larger pedestrian crossing signs on both approaches, and exploring additional markings — and voted to install the recommended signs and pavement markings.
Rob (Public Works) presented a mockup and described placement 50 feet in advance of the crosswalk; commissioners noted the site is dark during evening events and that a combination of increased signage and pavement markings would likely improve driver awareness without requiring a full CIP.
The motion to add shark teeth and an additional sign on the east and west approaches passed unanimously; staff will schedule installation and monitor the location.
