Davie County Public Library director reports high Mocksville branch usage and expanded services

Davie County Public Library Director Mr. Wolf told the Mocksville Town Board the Maxwell (Mocksville) branch is widely used and described a steady recovery of patronage following COVID-era declines.
Mr. Wolf said the library system has roughly 27,447 active library cards and that 26,569 of those patrons used the Mocksville branch (the director characterized that as about 97% of system users). He outlined branch hours, the roughly 15,600-square-foot facility, and core services including free public Wi-Fi, hotspot and Chromebook lending (devices require a full library card and six months of good standing to check out), and technology-assistance sessions.
The director highlighted community partnerships, outreach to nursing centers and schools, youth programming that draws about 60 children to midweek story time, STAR Lab programming borrowed from the state library, NC Cardinal interlibrary loans, SAT/ACT prep via tutor.com and volunteer and youth employment opportunities. Mr. Wolf also noted the library does not charge fines for late books but does charge for damaged or lost items.
Board members thanked the director for the overview and said they appreciated the library’s service levels and community reach.
