Benchmark Planning kicks off Mocksville downtown master plan, asks residents to complete survey

Benchmark Planning representative Jason Eppley told the Mocksville Town Council the firm will lead a roughly 12‑month comprehensive plan update and the town's first downtown master plan and asked for resident input through a community survey and in‑person workshops.
"The plan is the road map for the future of your community," Eppley said, describing background research, listening sessions with business and neighborhood stakeholders, a future land‑use map and March–April downtown workshops where residents can review maps and concept plans. He said the team aims to complete background research and interviews in the coming months and that the community survey is open through Nov. 30, with the possibility of extension if response is low.
Council members asked about target participation; Eppley said he would be comfortable if the town collected 400–500 responses. The mayor and board asked planning board members and the Mocksville Collaborative to help distribute flyers and QR codes. The presentation was framed as a public engagement kickoff; no formal council vote was required at this time.
