Residents used the public‑comment period at the Mocksville Town Council meeting to press officials for action on neighborhood odor and noise problems and for safer local traffic enforcement.
Mike Shabane, who identified himself as a resident of Charleston Ridge, told the council he has observed a visible haze over a nearby feed mill and said the odors, noise and dust have affected his neighborhood. "Why isn't the board turning around and doing something, to help the citizens of this town to check the air pollution, the noise pollution, the smell pollution that's being created by the feed mills," Shabane said, urging the council to pursue inspections and contact regional air‑quality officials on residents' behalf.
Another resident, Elena Hendricks of 120 Sunset Drive, asked the town to reestablish a local noise ordinance after repeated nightly dog barking. "We're sick and tired of it," Hendricks said, asking the town manager to keep her informed of follow‑up.
Mayor noted that the town manager will follow up with residents who request staff contact; no formal council action on the feed‑mill or noise complaints was taken during the meeting. The requests place two issues on the town's radar — potential air‑quality and nuisance code enforcement — that residents asked be pursued by staff and, if necessary, elevated to county or state regulators.
