Administration asked the board to approve combined classified salary schedules and new job descriptions creating roles such as van driver/food-service worker and van driver/custodian. Officials said the combined roles are meant to offer a single, full-time contract to address driver shortages, reduce overtime and simplify scheduling; the presenter noted that existing practice prevented the district from offering two separate contracts to the same person. Board members said filling these positions would be a cost savings if it reduces reliance on outside providers for transportation.
On the academic calendar, trustees discussed three options for 2025–26 and 2026–27 start dates. One board member argued that an earlier mid-August start benefits students preparing for Advanced Placement exams; another board member said farming families prefer a post-Labor Day start. Several trustees signaled support for a middle option that aims to balance testing preparation with local traditions.
The board set the organizational meeting for Jan. 13, 2025 at 5:45 p.m. in the high school's extended learning space, nominated and approved a president pro tem for that meeting (with one abstention recorded), and adjourned.
