Valley View Local administrators presented the district's 2024–25 business advisory council plan, proposing membership in a Montgomery County consortium of 27-plus school districts, multiple businesses, government entities and higher-education partners to build career pathways for students.
The presenter said the countywide advisory council will "create and nurture partnerships between industry and schools" to develop quality experiences leading to college and career readiness. Valley View already offers courses aligned with several of the council's pathways, and the presentation specifically mentioned a health science educator pathway and other career experiences meant to let students earn progress toward pathway competencies.
Officials said the partnership is intended to expand work-based learning, align course offerings with employer needs and provide students with pathways into local industries. The administration presented the 2024–25 plan to the board for review.
Board members expressed support for the plan and its potential to address student preparation for AP classes and other advanced coursework by increasing hands-on and employer-linked learning opportunities.
