The Fairfield Union Local School District board voted to accept several staff resignations and to approve a personnel transfer during its regular meeting.
The board accepted the retirement/resignation of Bindi "Bendy" Martindale (Bremen Elementary), whom the superintendent said had served 31 years. "Bindi has been here for 31 years and has given up herself every day," the superintendent said, and several trustees offered tributes before the motion to accept her resignation passed.
The board also approved the resignation of Melanie Baker (Rushville Middle School) effective Dec. 24 and accepted the resignation of Christina Clark, a middle‑school aide effective Dec. 14; motions to approve these resignations were moved, seconded and carried by recorded vote.
On a personnel transfer, the board approved moving Cassie (Casey) Wilkinson from assistant treasurer/payroll to the district EMIS coordinator role effective Dec. 16. Administrators praised Wilkinson for quickly learning EMIS responsibilities and for taking on a critical job during a difficult transition. "She immediately began work, learning EMIS, going through some trainings while still maintaining a presence on the payroll side," the superintendent said.
All motions were approved by voice/roll call as recorded in the meeting; the board did not discuss specific candidates to fill the classroom or support roles at length during the public session.
Next steps: the administration will process personnel actions and return to the board with recommendations for filling vacancies or posting openings as needed.
