Board hears and moves forward on recommended hires, names new principal for George Washington School
Summary
Superintendent presented recommended hires — Joe Giovalati and Stacy Wink — and recommended Robin Milner to become principal of George Washington School; the board celebrated the selections and the candidates' experience during the meeting.
Superintendent Raymond introduced recommended personnel changes and welcomed candidates for new positions. He said Joe Giovalati was recommended to fill a business-teacher position at the secondary school and noted Giovalati’s background in the Baldwin School District and degrees from Hofstra and St. Bonaventure University. He also recommended Stacy Wink for an earth-science special-education position, citing her experience in Great Neck since 2019 and degrees from SUNY Plattsburgh and LIU Post.
The superintendent then introduced Robin Milner as the recommended principal for George Washington School following a competitive search with more than 80 applicants. Raymond said the selection process included multiple screening rounds and unanimous support from the screening committee and board participants; he described Milner’s experience in elementary leadership and a master’s degree in leadership administration from the College of Saint Rose.
Board members congratulated the candidates. The personnel items were included in the dockets the board moved and approved during the meeting; the superintendent said the administration and board will work to make transitions smooth for staff and students.
