Board approves budgetary transfers, meal prices and policy readaptations; meeting dates set

At its July 2, 2024 organization meeting, the Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education approved multiple routine resolutions including a budgetary transfer report, meal prices for the 2024–25 school year, readaptation of annual policies and authorization of meeting dates for 2024–25.

The school business executive presented the budget status and budgetary transfer reports, noting some cleanup work will continue through June 29. The Chair read a resolution to approve the current budgetary transfer report; the board moved, seconded and approved the resolution as presented.

The board also approved Resolution 030-2024 setting meal prices for the 2024–25 school year. The school business executive said the district will continue to provide free meals to students but recommends adjusting adult meal prices to conform with the formula used for pricing. "We feel that we need to adjust it for adults to fit the formula," the school business executive said.

During consent agenda review the school business executive said two items were added at the last minute: a lease of space to the Department of Social Services at $25 per day and a contract with Mosaic for completion of an energy performance contract; both were included in the approved consent agenda.

The board also approved resolutions to readapt annual policies and adopted a resolution authorizing the board meeting dates for the 2024–25 school year. Warrant and accounts-payable information was noted as available on the district's shared drive.

Administrators were thanked for their year-round work; the board directed standard recordkeeping and filing of the approved documents.
