At its July 2, 2024 organization meeting, the Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education elected Mark as board president and Nancy as vice president.
The clerk called for nominations for president and vice president. A board member nominated Mark for president and the board collected ballots; the clerk announced the result and congratulated him. After the vice-presidential nomination (Nancy), ballots were again collected and the clerk announced Nancy as vice president.
The clerk then administered the oath of office, requiring support for the constitutions of the United States and the State of New York and a pledge to faithfully discharge board duties; several board members responded, "I do," and signed the oath paperwork. The clerk noted the signed oath forms and the board filed them per district practice.
The new leadership is expected to guide committee assignments and set priorities for the coming year as the board finalizes committee rosters and a retreat date.
"Congratulations, Mark. You are the only president," the clerk said after the ballots were tallied. The nomination process and oath administration were handled during the organization portion of the meeting.
