Saranac Lake board approves budget transfers, hears capital-project update

The Saranac Lake Central School District board approved Resolution Transfers0412024 adopting the district's current budgetary transfer report and heard a capital-project update from the school business executive.
The school business executive told trustees that the budget-status and budgetary-transfer reports were posted on the district drive and that “some of the transfers are over 10,000” to cover professional development, curriculum development and a New York Times subscription. The board adopted the resolution by voice vote after the Chair introduced the motion.
On facilities, the executive reported that speed bumps have been adjusted to meet specifications, storage sheds are being installed to stage turf-project equipment, and a concrete pad will be placed near the tennis court to store track equipment to avoid moving heavy equipment across the track.
The executive also said the district's energy performance contract (EPC) received final State Education Department approval within the last few days, while a separate third-floor abatement approval remains pending; major EPC-related work is planned for next summer and should not disrupt the current school year. Trustees were told the district aims to submit its term project to SED by the end of the week and has a project meeting scheduled for September 26.
