District staff told the board the energy performance contract the board previously approved is now in active installation at several campuses.
Mr. Winch said piers (concrete foundations) have been installed at some sites and steel work for the canopies is tentatively scheduled for September and October. Sites listed were Abbey Lane (canopy at the back parking lot), Division Avenue High School (canopy near the tennis courts), Gardner’s Avenue (two canopies in the north parking lot), Wisdom Lane (bus-circle area), Summit and MacArthur. He said materials have been delivered for some sites and that schedule adjustments have already been made to avoid conflicts with events such as homecoming.
Winch underscored that, as part of the energy-performance financing model, the work must be paid for by the energy savings the improvements create. He also noted utility coordination was required during design and permitting, and that the installer and facilities staff have been flexible with sequencing of work.
Board members raised questions about site details, shade analyses and community benefits (for example, canopy coverage of cars and potential to add community pickleball courts near some courts). Staff said they would follow up with the engineering and vendor teams to answer specific site-layout questions.
The board took no formal vote on the update; staff will continue to brief the board as installations progress.
