The Grand Rapids Public Schools finance committee on Tuesday approved the district’s 2024–25 purchasing agenda, carried a same‑day addendum to contract supplemental social‑work and school‑psychologist services, and accepted a donation of 50 laptops for Elder Middle School.
Miss Krebs presented the purchasing items the committee approved, saying the list included routine renewals and contracted services: an E2020 license for 2024–25, contracted meal support for Nutrition Services, public relations services, Turkey Trot shirts, a facility‑use and asset tracking renewal for the facilities department, and recurring inventory purchases such as copy paper and janitorial supplies. She also listed grant‑funded agreements for Innovation Central training with Life EMS and LOOP summer programming contracts with United Methodist Community House and the YMCA. For bond projects, the district moved forward with architectural and engineering selections for the Elder Middle renovation, Cesar Chavez, Dickinson Academy and Ottawa Hills projects.
A committee member moved to approve the purchasing agenda and the Chair supported the motion; the committee carried the motion by voice vote.
The meeting included a same‑day purchasing addendum. "We did add a purchasing agenda addendum this afternoon," Miss Krebs told the committee, introducing a proposed agreement with Emergis Healthcare Staffing to supplement social‑worker and school‑psychologist services while the district continues to experience staffing shortages. She noted a letter of agreement with the union was signed last week. The committee approved the addendum by voice vote.
Miss Krebs also announced a donation: "AT&T and Urban League are generously donating 50 laptops for Elder Middle School," she said, adding the devices will be used as incentives through the school's PBIS program. The committee voted to accept the donation.
The committee did not take additional formal action on individual contract award details during the meeting; procurement and contract execution will follow the district’s normal purchasing procedures.
