Staff emphasized that using district-employed drivers where possible could reduce reliance on outside busing vendors and save money. "We don't need to use an outside busing company," the staff member said, explaining that internal driver flexibility would help support athletics and field trips while keeping costs lower.
Trustees asked about distance and accessibility for families in more remote parts of the district and about communications. Staff said they are coordinating with the city for an additional crossing guard at Dexter and Arru Road and will continue outreach to families through back-to-school events and district communications.
A trustee also raised concern about a newspaper item that ran information before the district's communications were finalized; trustees asked staff to follow up with the publication. No board action was taken — the discussion was informational and focused on logistics prior to the school year.
