Superintendent Jeremy Ray told the school committee on July 31 that the district received a successful construction bid for the Biddeford Public Schools project, with the number coming in at roughly $9,000,000.
Ray said he would meet with the contractor the next day to finalize timing and start dates, noted visible progress on interior and exterior work at district facilities and said kitchen equipment is scheduled for delivery in August. "As you walked in tonight, you probably saw a lot of changes every week that happens on the exterior," he said, adding staff expect some continuing punch-list items before the first day of school.
Ray also announced the districtadult-education department received a $299,000 grant from the governor's office to develop internships, job-training and resume-building programs targeting about 70 individuals for jobs in the clean-energy sector. The superintendent said the grant will allow the program to add staff and expand training capacity.
Board members thanked administration for the update; finance and implementation details will follow in committee as the district finalizes contracts and equipment schedules.
