"They then select from all those submittals a short list to do a more detailed proposal. They use a matrix in both cases to rank and rate those firms," Dr. Royster said as he described the process.
Presenters told trustees the project will be self‑funded from Food & Nutrition Services fund‑balance carryover and an advance from the district fund balance that the program will repay through local revenue and a la carte sales; federal USDA funds cannot be used for the building. Estimated occupancy was stated as 2026.
A motion to approve the recommended architectural firm subject to successful fee negotiation was moved and seconded; the board voted in favor and the motion passed.
