Library staff reviewed consolidated reports covering Oct. 16–Jan. 14 and a shorter monthly period for Jan. 15–Feb. 11, highlighting usage trends, program attendance and outreach activity. Staff said digital checkouts on platforms such as Libby, Hoopla and Canopy remained strong and noted targeted promotion of the Data Axle business database to local small businesses.
Ophelia showed an "at‑a‑glance" report designed for graphic presentation and said the board could keep a detailed numeric appendix for members who want deeper figures. A board member suggested converting the condensed report into a one‑page community share or newsletter item.
Staff announced that the library received the Achievement of Excellence in Libraries award for the sixth consecutive year and that the new sorter machine is operating quietly and reliably. Staffing updates included the hiring of Libby Villegas as the new teen services librarian; staff said Villegas will be scheduled for a future staff spotlight.
Staff previewed March programming — including author visits, story times, the Ramadan family event, a Buffalo Soldiers program and a teen trinket fair — and described spring‑break outdoor events such as a Ramazzini Circus and garden pop‑ups. The board was also told that Summer Kickoff is scheduled for May 29 from 9 to 11:45 a.m., featuring carnival games, food trucks and a dinosaur theme.
The board had few concerns about the reports and largely favored keeping monthly meetings; staff said they will continue flexible scheduling and provide the at‑a‑glance report with a numeric appendix on request.
