Resident asks Wylie to expedite pickleball court lighting

A Wylie resident told council the new pickleball courts are difficult to use after work hours and asked the city to encourage Parks & Rec to expedite installation of already-mounted lights so more residents can use the courts in the evenings.
At the Feb. 24 Wylie City Council meeting, resident Bridal Volker asked the council to encourage Parks & Recreation to expedite installation of lights at the new three-court pickleball facility so working residents can use the courts on weeknights.
"The lights are going to be installed," Volker said, noting that wiring and mounts appear in place and asking the council to help "expedite getting the lights installed sooner so that courts can be used more by the residents of Wylie." The mayor offered to have a parks-and-rec staff member speak with Volker after the meeting.
The request was made during the public-comment period; no formal council action was taken on the request that evening, but staff follow-up was offered.
