Board approves multi‑award RFQ and readies referendum projects and construction work

The Dorchester 2 school board approved a multi‑award RFQ recommendation on construction services after procurement staff described a competitive process that produced 14 responses and a seven‑firm interview shortlist.
"We had a total of 14 responses...and we conducted interviews last week with seven firms," procurement officer Ashley Cash told the board. After another ranking, the district recommended the five highest‑ranked firms for multi‑award standing and asked the board to approve the awards.
A motion to approve the awards was made by Mr. Guthrie and seconded by Mr. Farnsworth; the chair called the voice vote and reported the motion carried with six in favor and one absent.
Board members also received an operations update on referendum projects and campus work. Staff said HVAC and lighting projects are substantially complete at several sites, roofing and media‑center work at Fort Dorchester High School is finished, track work is out for paving and tennis courts have entered the survey and design stage. Staff said design documents for some referendum projects have been uploaded for permitting and a traffic‑impact assessment had been received for one project.
No further formal action on individual construction contracts was taken at the meeting beyond the multi‑award RFQ approval; staff said the district will use the multi‑award list as projects move toward GMP and design phases.
