The Catalina Foothills Unified School District Governing Board unanimously approved its consent agenda, including field-trip requests, acceptance of gifts and donations and two grant-funded facility projects.
After the chair called for items to be pulled, Board member Tom (speaker 5) asked to pull item 3.4 (field-trip requests) and Eileen (speaker 4) asked to pull item 3.7 (gifts and donations) for brief comment. Tom praised the Community Schools outdoor-adventure series and its expanded staffing; the board then approved the field-trip request memorandum by voice vote.
Eileen highlighted the role of family and FFO fundraising across elementary schools and noted a capital gift from a Canyon View FFO for sunshades. "Another one of the reasons why our school district is so incredibly special is the effort that our Sunrise Drive, Ventana Vista, every single elementary school is on this gifts and donations memo," she said. The board approved the gifts-and-donations memorandum "with gratitude." The board also approved terms and conditions to accept School Facilities Division Building Renewal Grant funds for project BRG-007969 to replace the fire-alarm control system at Manzanita Elementary School (estimated between $400,000 and $800,000, not to exceed $800,000) and BRG-007971 for an air-conditioning unit replacement at Canyon View Elementary School (estimated $50,000), as presented.
