Melanie McGee, director of the Program Management Office, said the coalition added a chronic-absenteeism stretch goal aligned with Washington state's recommendation to cut chronic absenteeism 50% and increased the math-and-literacy stretch target from 15 to 25 percentage points for some subgroups. Student presenters described local examples (multicultural night, climate-change projects, student leadership opportunities) illustrating how the new measures connect to classroom experience.
Board members praised the coalition's process and the addition of stretch goals. A motion to approve the measures passed by voice vote.
What's next: district staff will roll the approved measures into annual plans and report on implementation; the board and staff signaled they will prioritize a subset of front-burner goals in the coming year to align resources with capacity.
