Wenatchee awards Pershing Street stormwater contract; Ecology grant to cover majority

Darcy Ronning, the city’s utility project manager, told the council the Pershing Street stormwater retrofit seeks to address drainage, replace water mains, and perform associated sewer/stormwater lining. She said the city received nine bids and Selling Construction was the lowest responsive bidder.
“The bid was $2,468,002.37,” Ronning said, adding that the total project costs were estimated in the meeting at roughly $3.67–$3.92 million. She said the stormwater portion will be paid primarily with an Ecology Water Quality Grant covering approximately 85% of stormwater construction costs; the water main replacement portion will be paid from city funds (401).
Council Member Harold moved to award the construction contract for City Project Number 2104 to the lowest responsive bidder and authorize the mayor to sign the contract documents; Council Member Miller seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote.
City staff said there are four bid schedules and noted an alternate bid and engineers’ estimate; council members congratulated staff on securing the grant and asked no further substantive questions at the meeting.
