Andrea Rockledge, who identified herself as president of the Downtown Belt Mountain Partnership, used the citizen comments portion of the meeting to thank the city for participating in strategic planning and to introduce the partnership's new events coordinator, Maddie Stottler.
"I had the privilege of attending their strategic planning meeting," Rockledge said, and she described the meeting as informative and helpful for the downtown vision. Rockledge said the Downtown Partnership is working behind the scenes to support downtown activity and thanked council and staff for their involvement.
Maddie Stottler, who gave her name and address on the record, said she recently started in the role and is "happy to be here tonight." Stottler described her background in event planning and hotel work in Columbus and said she grew up in Logan County; she told council she will attend at least one meeting monthly to update them on downtown events.
Council members thanked the partnership for its work, and Mister Davis later publicly thanked Rockledge, Mark Christman and Mister Dodds for investing in the downtown event coordinator position. The council did not take formal action on the hire during the meeting; Rockledge's remarks served as an introduction and informational update.
What happens next Stottler will provide ongoing updates to the council about downtown events and development efforts; staff will continue coordinating on scheduled events such as the car show and community promotions.
