Committee advances technical DNR land-acquisition cleanup bill to general register

Bob Meyer, assistant commissioner at the Department of Natural Resources, testified the repealing language is duplicative of current strategic land asset management protocols and that the department coordinates early with partners to ensure acquisitions fit into a cohesive network of state, county and local lands. "This language was recommended to the LCCMR," Meyer said, explaining the bill stems from prior commission discussion to remove statute text that has outlived its original purpose.
No members asked substantive questions after Meyers overview. Representative Jordan renewed his motion and the committee moved the bill to the general register by voice vote.
The action advances minor statutory cleanup language and does not appropriate new money; the committee took no further action on the bill at this hearing.
