Marlington Local board approves September financial reports and personnel consent items

The Marlington Local School District board unanimously approved the treasurer’s recommendations on Oct. 17, including approval of corrected minutes from Sept. 25, September financial reports and a personnel consent agenda.

Treasurer (as recorded) reported a general fund cash balance of $9,255,972.04, a permanent improvement fund balance of $1,000,071.42 and a capital projects fund balance of $441,174.99, with combined cash across funds of $11,597,016. He also said the district issued checks totaling $512,708.94 during September.

During questions, board members asked whether a payment listed to Griner Interiors related to a CTE room grant; administration confirmed it was tied to the CTE grant. Members also asked about an underground storage tank fund that was established to cover any potential leakage; the treasurer said he will research whether the fund is still required and, if cleared by the court, whether the money could be transferred out.

The personnel consent package included a classified retirement, a classified resignation, a classified hire, supplemental assignments for winter sports and a supplemental pay correction; the board approved the consent items by roll call.

Motions to approve the minutes, financial reports and personnel consent were moved and seconded and carried on recorded roll calls (affirmative responses recorded for the board). No formal action was recorded to close the underground storage tank fund; the treasurer will report back after research.
