Renee Kaley, Marlington Local’s curriculum director, told the school board on Oct. 17 that the district’s 2023–24 state report card showed an overall rating of 3.5 — down from 4.0 the previous year — and that the progress component dropped from 4 to 2.
“This year our overall rating was a 3.5,” Kaley said, adding that the progress component reflects value‑added student growth and that the district “fell short of our student growth expectation.” She cautioned that new curriculum implementation, staff turnover and substitute coverage can depress growth measures.
