Superintendent outlines Community Ed building timeline, lacrosse partnership and principal‑finalist process

On the Community Education building, Shane said the task force is "continuing to prep and plan" and that the district will meet with architects to "literally map out a 12 to 16 to 17 month process that will culminate in the building of our community ed building and a new site." He said the task force will expand and the district will seek community feedback in coming months.
Shane described a partnership with the youth lacrosse association that would fund a practice wall on district grounds after plans to locate the wall in a city park proved infeasible; he said the association will pay for the installation and that district staff have sought a site that "doesn't impede on any other district activities." Shane framed the proposal as a community partnership to benefit students and community members.
On staffing, Shane reported the site interview committee has identified finalists for a principal position. He said he must notify finalists before the district announces them publicly and that the next steps include on‑site finalist interviews and meet‑and‑greet events.
Shane closed by saying more details will be shared at the March board meeting as the engagement process and the principal selection progress.
