Harrisburg staff preview budget changes, flag insurance, fuel costs and new planning position

Rob, a town staff member leading the workshop, told the Town of Harrisburg council that this year’s budget process will move earlier and aim for a fully balanced Draft 1 that gives council and the public access to detailed budget information sooner.
The workshop concentrated on three immediate budget themes: account reclassifications intended to make department budgets easier to read; rising insurance and bonding costs; and sustained fuel-price pressure. "The changes we've made to make it a little bit tighter schedule, have a little bit more transparency and a little bit more decision making... earlier so that the community will have access to our budget sooner," Rob said.
