Council asks for consolidated costs, tables two street‑engineering contracts

Councilmembers stressed the need for a consolidated package that ties engineering fees to an overall project estimate and clarifies whether the work will be bid as a single prime contractor with subcontractors or as separate contracts. "It would be helpful in the future…if we have the project costs, anticipated project costs so we can see what the relationship is," the mayor said.
Several councilmembers recommended tabling the engineering approvals until staff combines the prior project estimate, the new engineering letters and the attachments into a single agenda packet so council and the public can clearly see what the engineering phase represents within the full construction budget. One council member moved to table and asked staff to return at the next council meeting with the consolidated materials; the motion passed after a second.
Council requested that the resubmittal include: the original project estimate previously presented to council, the current engineering‑phase fees, clear labels for which budget lines would cover which work, and contact/contract information for the engineering firms so council can confirm scope and deliverables.
