School board approves MOU and multiple policy updates, staff detail epinephrine rollout

The Meridian School District board on Dec. 18 approved an MOU for an occupational-therapy clinical partnership with the University of Saint Augustine and completed second reviews of several district policies.
Chair moved and members seconded approval of the MOU; the motion carried on a voice vote. The board then approved policy and procedure 34-14 on infectious diseases and policy/procedure 34-20 addressing anaphylaxis prevention and response after trustees asked staff about supply timelines and replenishment. A second review and approval of policy 5005 (employment and volunteer disclosure, certification requirements and assurances) and policy 6600 (transportation) were also adopted by voice votes.
On supplies related to anaphylaxis, a staff member said each building will receive two epinephrine autoinjectors at age-appropriate dosages, that the initial two pens per school were provided at no cost, and that refills are expected to be available at no cost; staff anticipated receipt after the winter/spring break period. The staff update also noted work to update Narcan availability across schools.
None of the formal motions recorded speaker-by-speaker roll-call votes in the public transcript; all approvals were taken by voice vote after motions and seconds.
The board moved on to finance and superintendent reports after completing these actions.
