Board honors staff, approves personnel items and names Honaker High School court for coach

The Russell County Public Schools board recognized staff and approved several routine personnel items, including retirements, resignations and new hires. The board also voted to name the Honaker High School basketball court the "Misty Miller Basketball Court at AP Bottling Gymnasium."
Mullins introduced the employee-recognition segment and praised support-staff member Dustin Presley from Homemaker Elementary School: "He shows up each day with a servant's heart, never complaining and always putting students first," Mullins said. The board asked Miss Judith Reed and other staff to come forward for the recognition.
The board moved and approved a list of retirements and resignations, and later approved a longer list of new hires and transfers. The board also approved the payment of bills for the evening by voice vote.
During future-agenda items, a board member lauded the Honaker girls varsity basketball coach and moved to name the school's basketball court for Misty Miller. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The meeting concluded after a brief round of thanks to London Primary School for the meal; a motion to dismiss carried and the board adjourned.
