Princeton board approves budget amendments, auditor contract and several administrative items; reviews parks master plan

Budget amendments: TA King presented amendments to balance the general fund and water/sewer accounts, including moving budgeted supervisor funds to technician salary lines because the town currently lacks a public-works supervisor. Commissioners discussed line items and the rising cost of chemicals; the board accepted the amendments and approved the motion (vote recorded as 3-0).
Audit contract: The board discussed the fiscal-year 2026–27 audit contract and rising fees for municipal audits; members recounted a past vendor’s late performance and explained the town’s procurement steps. After discussion, the board approved the selected auditor (vote recorded as 3-0).
Planning board reappointments: The board reviewed two-year volunteer reappointments for planning board members highlighted in the packet and discussed staggering terms to avoid many expirations at once; staff noted the reappointments follow state statute. Commissioners moved to reappoint the highlighted members.
RC2 capital project ordinance and Fire Relief Fund: The board adopted an ordinance to establish budget lines for Department of Commerce RC2 grant funds (town signs and park-and-rec planning). The board also handled the nomination for the Princeton Fire Department Relief Fund board (nominee Michael/Mike Holmes) per state authorizing rules for the relief fund.
Parks and Recreation master plan: Staff presented the draft 2026 Park and Recreation master plan prepared by Sage Johnson Design and urged commissioners to submit comments ahead of an April adoption deadline to avoid missing grant opportunities.
