Sunset Beach schedules March 20 Arbor Day planting; mayor to issue proclamation

Candace, a Tree Board member and Environmental Resource Committee member, told the board the date is set: "the date is going to be March 20," and said the planned planting will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the fire department site. Board members proposed distributing educational pamphlets about the benefits of trees and Tree City USA activities at the event.
An ERC member said the proclamation "is all set. Kimberly wrote it, and the mayor's already signed it," and that a press release prepared with town staff will be sent to local media to publicize the event. The board also discussed future distribution of bare-root seedlings from the Arbor Day Foundation as a low-cost educational giveaway.
Organizers are finalizing which board and council members will participate in the planting ceremony and will confirm logistics with town staff.
